As a website owner, you really do not have to be a web developer in order to create an amazing online form, whether it is a simple contact form, an employment application form, an appointment request form or any other type of online form. In fact, there are a number of third party form builder services which utilize a straight forward, drag-and-drop system with a variety of useful features. These features include drop downs, radio buttons, check boxes, Captcha and file uploads.
So, without further ado, here are two of what we consider to be the best, free website form builders you may want to consider.
Cognito Forms
Cognito Forms is perhaps our favorite form builder because it is very simple and easy-to-use. Although it offers some paid plans, you can alternatively sign up for a free plan as well. Perhaps best of all, there is no limitation on the number of “Form Views”. Cognito Form’s free plan also permits up to 100 MB of storage, an unlimited number of forms and up to 500 “entries” (form submissions) per month.
Jotform
Jotform has a well-earned reputation for being an “Easy-to-use online form builder for every business.” We would have to agree because it enables you to easily create online forms using their simple drag-and-drop form interface. Jotform also has some form templates and offers a “FREE” plan. However, the free plan does have some limitations, including 100MB of storage, 100 submissions per month, up to 5 forms, 500 total form submissions and most notably, something that we haven’t seen from other form builders…a limit of 1000 “form views” per month. What is a form view? Each time your Jotform is viewed on a live web page, this is considered one form view. This is a puzzling restriction because on the free plan, when your Jotform is viewed more than 1,000 times within a given month, the Jotform will be disabled for the remainder of that month. In order to get a more generous Form View limit, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan. If you have a low traffic, website, this restriction on form views may not be such a big deal.
